The idea of this project came to mind after I’d got involved in a project using SFP modules. I needed to learn about SFPs so I found a SFP programmer and its software on the Internet. I downloaded the software trial and decided to develop a similar system. Although I’ve spent quite much time developing the project, it was a good practice to learn SFPs interface. It also turned to a great tool for developing projects when interfacing SFPs is needed. This programmer consists of hardware and software. The programmer board features two SFP connectors and a microcontroller, connecting to the PC (Windows software) on the USB port. All data addresses on the SFPs can be read or written – except those which are protected by a company password.
