Mimic LCD Display

Mimic LCD Display

This is an LCD Display designed to use in JDEVS industrial UPS products providing UPS information monitoring and user commands and settings transmission to the UPS. Mimic shows UPS measured information such as voltage and current as well as UPS status such as battery status, input source, and charging mode. However, it doesn’t measure any parameter itself. Mimic has a Modbus serial port acting as the master node on the UPS internal bus communicating with other controllers. So it collects information from other controllers on the bus, monitors them on the LCD display, and logs critical changes and events on the internal memory. It also receives user commands and settings, and sends them to the related devices on the bus. There is an isolated serial Modbus slave port on the mimic, too. So that user can set a slave address and connect the mimic to a PLC via Modbus. Mimic is designed to work with different types of JDEVS UPS products like Charger, Inverter, UPS, and DC-DC. It’s configured by connecting an external SD/MMC containing configuration file generated by software.

Mimic LCD Display specification:

  • Wide input voltage range 9 to 18VDC
  • Isolated switching power supply
  • Graphic LCD Display 240×128
  • 16-key keypad
  • Up to 32 programmable LED indications
  • Supports up to 4 relay card – 32 programmable output relay connecting to system signals such as alarms, faults, and status
  • Onboard time keeper with backup battery
  • Modbus master port (fixed parameters, providing bus power)
  • Isolated Modbus slave port (adjustable parameters)
  • Up to 3000 event memory (with date and time)
  • External SD/MMC (configuration and logging)
  • UPS Single Line Diagram
  • Adjustable brightness, backlight, backlight time, and contrast
  • User password
  • Uptime counter

LCD module used in mimic is a 240×128 Graphical LCD with T6963C controller and LED backlight. UPS measurement, status, settings, commands, and event pages are displayed as well as UPS Single Line Diagram, which gives an overall view of the entire system status as bellow.

Mimic hardware consists of three board including controller, keypad, and LED board. All three boards are mounted on the mimic panel along with the LCD module. Hardware test mode is available to provide an easy mimic hardware test and decrease production and debug time consist of keypad, RTC, LEDs, internal event memory, and SD/MMC interface tests. Consider mimic PCBs (different versions) as follows:

As JDEVS products are custom-designed, Mimic LCD Display was developed to work with various types of converters. Configuration software has written with Microsoft Visual Studio generates a configuration file according to client requirements which configures Mimic via SD/MMC memory.
